This fortress was built by the people of Kommagene on a rock opposite the ancient city of Arsameia. Its role was to protect the summer residence of the King. The Romans and the Mameluks rebuilt it. Most of what is seen today dates from the 13th century. From the top of Arsameia you will have a great view over these remains. This fortress must be seen!
